It can be easy to get caught up in the world of a new show, but with COVID-19 around, many of us would have been through the top suggested lists already, searching for the next best binge! Instead of spending hours trying to find something you will like, here are our suggested picks that we know you will enjoy.

1. Netflix top suggestions:

Hollywood: This is s fairly new release with only one season so far, but it is most definitely binge-worthy! It is set in post-WWII, in Hollywood. The aspiring actors and filmmakers are striving to make their dreams come true, with many sacrifices along the way. They are really willing to do whatever it takes to be the next best in showbiz!

The Witcher: A complete eye candy series with Tomasz Bagiński as the main character Geralt, a really dark and troubled character with a world of issues behind his eyes. This is a fantasy show with all of the monsters and evil spirits to fill that void in your life. As Geralt works his way through missions to hunt monsters, he also discovers more about himself, his place in the world, and his connections with others. Very watchable and shocking at the same time, this show is based on a video game, so there are lots of gore and guts – beware.

The 100: If you are looking for a pre/post-apocalyptic show, then the 100 has everything you want in one. Not only will it make you feel much better about the COVID-19 pandemic, but it actually enlightens you to how far humans will go to ensure the human race survives, again and again. You will never look at AI, the Earth or leadership in the same way again. Think survival, space technology, cryo-sleep, and war.

2. HBO top suggestions:

Chernobyl: The inside story of what ‘might have’ occurred during the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion. There are lots of areas of this show that are not factually correct, but they do create a create show to watch, provide insight, and a little bit of conspiracy theory on the side. Who doesn’t like an alternative truth? The series features some big actors like; Jared Harris and Stellan Skarsgard, so the acting is on point the whole way through. You won’t want to stop once you start.

The Plot Against America: “An alternate American history during World War II is told through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in New Jersey as they endure the political rise of Charles Lindbergh, who captures the presidency and turns the nation toward fascism, rather than away from it.”

3. HULU top suggestions:

Vikings: This is the ultimate show for anyone who loves a bit of gorey history and drama. Vikings has 6 seasons, meaning there is no shortage of episodes to get you through the next few weeks or months and the characters are very easy on the eyes. “Viking Ragnar Lothbrok is a young farmer and family man who is frustrated by the policies of Earl Haraldson, his local chieftain who sends his Viking raiders east to the Baltic states and Russia, whose residents are as poor as the Norsemen. Ragnar wants to head west, across the ocean, to discover new civilizations. With assistance from his friend Floki, Ragnar builds a faster, sleeker fleet of boats to help him make it to the Western world. Through the years Ragnar, who claims to be a direct descendant of the god Odin, continues to struggle with Earl until the two face each other in a final battle for supremacy. Following that, Ragnar goes on a search for new lands to conquer.”

Siren: Mermaids of a different kind come out in full force within this show. Siren follows the lives of people living in a small coastal town called “Bristol Cove”, but there is much more to this town than a mythological history of mermaids. Ryn (a mermaid) comes to the surface as her species faces possible extinction by humans and water pollution, as well as overfishing. The range of environmental issues covered in this show are modern, relatable and although we might not have mermaids in real life, the impacts are the same on all ocean creatures. Watch as this dramatic love battle between mermaids, humans and the ocean unfolds, you won’t be able to tear yourself away from the screen. Grab your snacks and get ready for a new kind of mermaid to emerge, it’s a wild ride.

4. Amazon Prime Video top suggestions

White Collar: Okay so let’s premise this by saying the main character is played by; Matt Bomer (absolute GOD and heart-throb). The rest doesn’t really matter now does it? Well, if you are after something more than just a swoon, the show is based around the White-collar criminal Neal Caffrey, who is a well-known fraud artist, making duplicates of famous artworks and sculptures and selling them for top dollar. More than this though, he also escaped maximum-security prison, making the lives of the FBI hard. Which side will he end up on in the end?

So, now you have your new list of shows to go and add to your queue, why not invite a friend over to sit 1.5 meters apart and indulge in a little bit of binge-worthy tv.
