America’s First Choice has a great reputation for being very easy to contact. They can be reached through their online portal, as well as offering 24/7 phone support. While they do not offer a live chat feature, they will respond to facebook messages.

The most prominent issue people have with America’s First Choice is the amount of exclusions they have in their coverage, and therefore the volume of claims that are denied. The specific exclusions per item are not very easy to find or understand, so you will want to make sure you are right across this before taking out any coverage with America’s First Choice.

They also do not require a home inspection, but will not cover any pre-existing conditions. This will mean they will often ask you to prove the damage did not occur prior to coverage being taken out. So while it is not a requirement, we certainly recommend opting for a detailed home inspection if considering coverage.

How much does America’s First Choice cost?

*based on information provided by the vendor. Actual cost may vary.

America’s First Choice provides a larger number of coverage options compared with the industry standard. Rather then offering system or appliance only coverage, with a third combination plan, they offer a four plans which provide a blend of what is typical across the rest of the industry.

Their basic systems plan is called just that – Systems. This covers six of the essential household systems including air conditioning and heating, as well as electrical and plumbing. Pricing is variable depending on you location, but is around $40 per month, which is about standard for this type of coverage.

The equivalent plan to this covering household appliances is their Silver plan. This will cover seven major appliances found in most American homes. This includes the clothes dryer and washer, refrigerator, dishwasher and more. This plan is similarly priced at around $38, so if this is in and around your budget, you can decide what is more important to you.

For a slightly higher price, you can choose one of the two plans combining coverage of both of your homes systems and appliances. The first of these is the Gold plan, which is simply a combination of both of the Systems and Silver plans. This is the most popular option provided by America’s First Choice. Price at around $45 per month, it is very affordable coverage when compared with similar plans offered by other brands.

To include coverage on plumbing stoppages, built-in microwave and you ice maker, you can consider the Platinum plan. Coming in at around $50 per month, it is not much more for the peace of mind of having these additional items covered, if they are of need.

The premiums on all plans can be adjusted to lower or raise the attached service fee. So if you are wanting a lower service fee, you will pay a slightly higher premium, and vice versa. This range can be from $75 to $125 per claim filed.

With respect to claim coverage limits, each item comes with its own limit, which are on the lower side of the industry average. So you will need to carefully consider the value, and the repair/replacement costs to ensure you will not be out of pocket at all.

Conclusion

The coverage offered by America’s First Choice is a fantastic budget friendly offering which stands out from other companies in the market.

Their large range of plans is sure to suit almost any coverage you had in mind, with the option to use any licensed contractor and still have a long workmanship guarantee is almost unheard of.
There are a few pitfalls to be aware of, but these can all be navigated, so you can be confident that you are being well looked after by America’s First Choice.
