What is First Premier?

First Premier is a new entrant to the home warranty market, covering most States in the country. They are a great option for the budget-conscious customer as they provide some of the best upfront and dispatch fees across the industry.

While only being in operation since 2020, they have quickly gained a strong reputation for a reason. Their founder has over 30 years in the industry, and they provide you with more then just the basic expectations you require from your home warranty coverage.

They have a responsive 24/7 call center and fast technician response times, so while they do not provide a timeframe guarantee, you should still not be waiting long.

Their plans are not split into the usual appliance/system/combo pattern. Rather their two plans have a range of inclusions and add-ons.

The main drawback is their payout cap, which sits at only $1,500. In our market review, this is certainly on the lower side. So you will need to keep that in mind if you have items in your home you know would be far more expensive then this to repair or replace.

Customer Support is available at First Premier

First Premier has a great reputation for a very responsive customer service team, who can be contact by phone or email 24/7. Claims can also be made online, and the process of your claim can be tracked in real time through their portal.

They do not provide any guarantees on the response time of their contractors, however they have been known to have someone dispatched within 20-minutes of a claim being made. Generally during business hours, they will be very responsive, however out of hours you might be waiting a little while longer.

One area they are lacking is their claim payout, which is capped at $1,500 per item. This is on the lower side of the industry, so you will need to keep this in mind when selecting a home warranty plan.

Pros and Cons

  • For the budget conscious who are still wanting quality coverage. Plan fee’s and service call-out fee’s are far below industry averages.
  • They employ a highly vetted and trained network of repair contractors.
  • Very quick response to claims, has been as fast as 20 minutes when the claim is made during business hours.

  • While they have built a top reputation in the industry, they are still a young company with less than 2-years in operation.

How much does First Premier cost?

*based on information provided by the vendor. Actual cost may vary.

First Premier offers two separate plans, and differs from the norm in the industry, where both plans include a certain level of inclusions of both appliances and household systems, rather then having a separate plan for each.

The first level of coverage is their Premier plan, which is best for general appliances and systems. The fifteen items they cover include your plumbing systems and ductwork, as well as your dishwasher and over and rangehood. The costs of this plan are incredibly competitive, starting at around $32 per month. It will vary based on your location. You can also add on items such as a pool/spa, sump pump or second refrigerator for between $25 to $150 annually.

The second level of coverage provides additional coverage for your air conditioning and heating, refrigerator, and washer/dryer. For these additional items you can expect to be paying from $40 per month, which is still incredibly competitive relative to the market. As with the first level of coverage there are additional items you can add for an additional fee.

Not only are the monthly fee’s great value with First Premier, but if you pay annually you can expect up to a two-month discount. On top of that, their service call out fee is as little as $45, which is certainly one of the smallest we have reviewed.

Conclusion

First Premier is a new entrant to the market, positioning themselves toward the budget, money-conscious customer.

They do have two coverage plans which will meet the needs of many American’s without breaking the bank. However, you might still find yourself a little out of pocket if there are any major repairs or replacements required which would be costing you more than $1,500.

Overall, First Premier is a great option, with a very responsive and easy to deal with customer support team, and generally speedy technician response times. More then most other companies though you will want to discuss your options with one of their team, as their website does not provide much detail, and you will want to understand more about your inclusions.
